The Sovereign Centre, Weston-super-Mare
In January 2015, Vixcroft acquired the Weston-super-Mare Unit Trust, a JPUT which ownsThe Sovereign Centre, a 118,000 sq ft enclosed Centre supported by car parking for 876 vehicles. The Centre comprises the principal shopping destination for Weston-super-Mare. It was originally opened in 1992.
Since purchase, Vixcroft has;
- Introduced a new anchor store
- Completed ten new unit shop lettings
- Completed three lease regearings
- Improved the catering within the Centre
- Transformed the food court with a £500k revamp
- Worked with Heritage England, the adjoining College/University and the local authority, North Somerset District Council, to devise plans for the extension of the Centre to introduce restaurants facing a new, quality public space
- Devised a rebranding scheme to reflect an enhanced role and function for the Centre
The new lettings and lease regearings completed by Vixcroft have improved footfall and performance because, despite its high environmental quality and tourist attractions, Weston-super-Mare lacks quality restaurant provision. By redressing this shortcoming, and by enhancing the public spaces adjoining the Centre, Vixcroft will cement The Sovereign Centre’s position at the heart of this increasingly prosperous town.
